I knew I was hovering at the vet yesterday so I told the vet tech that I panic if Ray so much as sneezes and how if I ever had kids I’d probably wind up one of those crazy parents who shrink wrap their kids and make them wear helmets everywhere because I panic over my cat. So she says to me (I’m paraphrasing)

“I’d rather you be overprotective with him than not care at all.”

And you know what. Right on.

We also agreed that it’s easier – for us anyway – to be panicky with our animals because they can’t tell you when something’s wrong the way kids can. Cats especially.
