This is a huge misconception for regular Americans. When the government uses the phrase “undocumented” they’re using it incorrectly because if they were truly undocumented then they would’ve be in system. However these immigrants are in the system and they pay taxes, file tax returns and get no benefits that citizens and legal residents get. They also get to see ICE showing up at their doors because the government has their addresses.
Fun fact. “Undocumented” workers pays $12 billion dollars every year in taxes.

“Undocumented” just means “without papers,” i.e. a social security card, valid visa, etc. They’re still on databases and whatnot, they just don’t have the documentation that allows them to reap the benefits.

72 years waiting
My great auntie, an Auschwitz survivor, called my mother up today.
“this is how it began, before they put us on the trains”
And then hung up.
She’s 95 years old and she has never admitted to being Jewish, to being a survivor. I was 7 years old when I overheard my dad and mom talking about, I just learnt about the Holocaust in school, we saw photos of those skeletal humans. My small kid’s brain couldn’t grasp it. You have to understand that in Jewish elementary school you learn about the Holocaust before you hit grade 3.
I am 30 years old now…and she still denies her Jewish heritage. The trauma was too great, the horror too massive. The fear so deeply ingrained.
Until today…today she said it out loud.
Her story is incredible, how she came to be a part of my mom’s family is a pretty magical story. I hope that before she dies, I can hear it from her mouth and not just the secondhand telling from my parents and grandmother.
Can you imagine what kind of trauma it must have been for her to be watching the news and see all this white supremacy bullshit?
It’s been 72 years…72 years of saying nothing. The Holocaust was a taboo subject if she was even remote hearing distance…Even after she heard that I’d been assaulted by a group of skinheads…she said nothing.
It was the newsreels of what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia that shook something loose.
Let that sink in.
This shit has to stop. We have to refuse to allow history to repeat. We have to refuse to be disunited.

A little known fact about me, though I have mentioned it once or twice, is that I am kind of a total makeup junkie. (I don’t wear it everyday-mostly I like the pretty colors *shrug*)
Anyway, I just ran across this amazing makeup brand that makes lipsticks and nail polishes specifically for POC and apparently they’re going to come out with lip glosses soon too.
They’re called Mented Cosmetics (as in pigMENTED) and their products are vegan and not tested on animals. I haven’t tried any of their products (having a ghostly vampiric complexion myself) but all the lipsticks I looked at had rave reviews and AND AND they have swatches on all their lipsticks on actual models with actual varying skin tones, from lighter WOC to deeper skin tones. They’re also not HOLY HELL expensive either.
They seem like an awesome company just by cursory trot around their website, so if you’re looking for…all that, I’d suggest checking them out.
A couple of hours of google stalking has led me to the conclusion that a lot of people in Canada really need to clean their swimming pools.
