Did I mention that there’s an episode of Monk that has the exact same plot as the Gurnius Affair? Only instead of a Nazi the evil twin is a hitman. Unfortunately there was no angsty friend on friend torture scene. There was a friend on friend stare down that was charged in a way that I liked so there’s that.

T-shirts I got at Fan expo.

If I had the money, I would have cleaned them out of MFU shirts and sent them to all my MFU buddies. There were more I wanted, like Twilight Zone and Outer Limits but I didn’t want to go crazy at one booth.

So, Illya’s scared of bats (Bat Cave Affair), he’s scared of big dogs (Bow Wow Affair), he gets sea sick (Shark Affair), he has allergies (Fiery Angel Affair), and he can’t recognise faces (Very Important Zombie Affair). He really is the cutest secret agent ever.

Wait I thought he was in the navy?? (A navy soldier who gets seasick…

I think in fanon people tend to decide he served on submarines. But it’s not that clear he was in the navy. There’s just that one episode where he appears in a navy uniform. He could have been undercover. But he very definitely is seasick in The Shark Affair. He says how much he hates the sea.

Apparently MGM, in its background notes on Illya, said that he’d served in the Russian Navy on a submarine named “Moskva”.  The same notes also said he’d burnt down an igloo (which appeared as a throwaway line in one of the movies).  So it’s canon–but not shown-up-there-on-the-screen canon!

The “box of jazz records under the bed” comes from a similar source.

Ok but I have a theory about his seasickness. The scene where he’s seasick is when he’s on the raft. I really don’t remember him mentioning it while they’re on the ship. He seems grumpy, but he doesn’t seem (to me anyway) to be seasick anymore. So my theory is that the raft was particularly rough, but once he’s on the ship, that’s sea motion he’s used to, so his nausea goes away. I’ve seen this happen to people before, where they can handle being on larger vessels but being in small watercraft just sucks for them. And idk, you could interpret him saying he hates the sea in the same way I say I hate driving when I’m stuck in traffic.

Idk that’s my personal headcanon and I’m sticking to it.
