Wow.

The Pee-wee Herman twitter NEVER tweets stuff like this. I’m not sure if Paul himself runs it. I know he made the first tweet because he did it publicly and there’s video. But whether it’s genuinely him still doing it, I can’t be sure. I think it probably is, knowing how tightly he likes to control the character’s image, but idk. That being said I don’t think this would have showed up on the twitter page without his approval.

I’m usually glad he doesn’t chime in on current events here, because it’s a kind of mental safe space for me but this. This got to me.

Good on you Paul.

I almost forgot to tell you guys I had another Paul Reubens dream.

In this one, we were pretty good friends, and he hadn’t made a Pee-wee movie in a while. I guess this was before Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. Anyway, he was thinking of making another one, but he wasn’t sure anyone would want to see it. I assured him that it would be great, but he still wasn’t convinced. Then later in the dream, what felt like a short period of time, I heard an announcement for a new movie on the radio then his voice came on in character announcing his new movie. I immediately took off running to find him. I was so excited and wanted to congratulate him. When I found him I got to give him a HUGE hug.

It was nice.

You know, when talking about my depression, in order to help people to understand its severity, I will often say that I’ve never experienced happiness, that I’ve never known a time in my life where I could say “I was happy then.” But that’s an oversimplification of the situation I think. There are, on occasion, moments, brief as they may be, when I get to experience complete and utter unbridled joy.

And I had one such moment today when I discovered that Paul Reubens was in a western.

We’ve been watching the Blacklist and Paul Reubens has (finally) showed up as Mr. Vargas. I knew it was coming but not which episode or even which season. He comes onscreen and I didn’t say anything. There was a long silent moment then this happens.

Brother: Oh my god.

Brother’s GF: What?

Brother: That’s Pee-wee Herman.

Meanwhile I’m over on my side of the room like

slowly-fading-blue:

So a dream of mine came true last night. Pee-Wee, Dottie, Simone, Chip, and Amazing Larry were all there in person to introduce the movie. I almost couldn’t believe it. You guys. I saw Paul Reubens. I SAW HIM WITH MY OWN EYEBALLS. MY HERO. THANKFULLY IT WAS DARK SO NO ONE COULD SEE MY TEARS. LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY ALL ARE.
